[Thursday Pin Tips] Unlock secrets to a legacy pin

Hey Reader!

What exactly is a legacy pin? Well its a pin that stands the test of time, consistently driving traffic and engagement long after it was originally pinned.

If you have seasonal content, these legacy pins often gain traction seasonally or as people continue to search for the topic over months and years.

Achieving one can feel like hitting the Pinterest jackpot, but the key is not to rely on luck. It’s about consistency and strategy (okay, with a dash of luck!).

How to Get a Legacy Pin:

  1. Create and share a variety of pins for the same piece of content. Experiment with different headlines, images, and styles. (You can create as many pins as you want, just don't save them all at once)
  2. Experiment with targeting different keywords for the same piece of content. Put those keywords in the on-pin text, pin title, and description.
  3. Monitor your analytics to see which designs and content resonate most with your audience and create more of that.
  4. Create trending and seasonal content, pins, and boards. Can you put a seasonal twist on an article that's already doing well?

You don't have to reinvent the wheel: Let’s say you have an article that consistently performs well, such as “How to Organize Your Closet in One Weekend.” You could create a new seasonal post like “How to Organize Your Closet for Fall Boots and Sweaters” or “How to Spring Clean Your Closet."

Why It Works:

Most of your pins won’t take off, and that’s perfectly normal. By pinning more and experimenting with different approaches, you increase the likelihood of creating that one standout pin. And once you have a legacy pin, it often continues to drive traffic, repins, and engagement long after it was initially pinned.
