[Thursday Pin Tips] Is this killing your traffic?

Hey Reader!

Have you noticed a big drop in outbound clicks from Pinterest lately? Maybe your impressions are holding steady (or even going up), but your traffic has taken a nosedive.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone...Pinterest is currently testing a huge change that could be affecting your pins without you even realizing it.

What’s Happening?

Pinterest is experimenting with removing the ‘Visit Site’ button on some pins. Yep, you read that right. That little button that lets people click from your pin to your website? Gone!

Now, imagine this: Your pin goes viral, gets tons of saves, and reaches thousands of people… but no one can actually click through to your site because there’s no button. 😱

FYI...it looks like clicking on the pin image on mobile still works if the button is gone. But on the web browser, people will need to click the three dots and select "visit site" to be taken to the link.

How to Check Your Pins:

  1. Go to your Pinterest analytics and check your top-performing pins.
  2. Open those pins and look for the ‘Visit Site’ button...is it still there?
  3. If the button is missing, Pinterest has placed your pins into this experiment.

What to Do If Your Pins Are Affected:

Don’t panic! Here’s what you need to do:
📩 Email Pinterest support and link to a pin that has the button removed. Ask to be removed from “the experience.” (Yes, that’s literally what they call it.)

Pinterest doesn’t usually announce these tests, so many creators don’t even realize their traffic is being impacted. Check your pins TODAY!

🔥 Pinterest’s AI Image Crackdown

AI-generated images have been flooding Pinterest for months...and they’re starting to take over.

Shady creators are using AI to churn out hundreds of pins at lightning speed, and Pinterest is finally stepping in.

Labeling AI-generated images in the feed
Reducing AI pins reach in rankings to prioritize authentic content

But here’s the problem...AI pins are everywhere, and Pinterest can’t catch them all. Since AI images can be created in bulk, spammy accounts are saturating the platform with low-effort content.

What This Means for You:

Pinterest is working on a solution, but in the meantime:

Focus on high-quality content. Pinterest says AI should enhance content creation, not replace creators.
Don't spam the platform with 20+ pins a day.
Stay consistent! As AI spam gets filtered out, your genuine content will rise to the top.

This AI wave is far from over, but authentic creators still have the advantage.
